Giving Light doesn't bring light, but helps it shine...
This gives local leaders, young people, and women the opportunity to realize their own visions. It's not the dependency, but the resilience of society that grows. Because local organizations understand the language, rules, and people, they also work more efficiently: relatively small amounts make a big difference.
Giving Light now supports four projects:
Where Rainbows Meet is an independent organization that supports the residents of the township of Vrygrond in various ways: childcare, education for youth and adults, employment, and the cultivation, preparation, and distribution of food. The Community Care Clinic offers free preventive and curative care to the residents of Vrygrond. Realistic is a unique organization that helps young people stay out of gangs, provides treatment programs for people with addictions in the townships, and provides children with a home in their shelters. The Fresh Water Project in Gambia ensures that villages that have been waiting for over 40 years for a water supply finally have clean drinking water.
At a time when many Western countries are cutting back on their development budgets, Giving Light shows that change is only truly sustainable if it grows from within.

The Giving Light Foundation was founded by Michelle van Tongerloo, Melina ten Have, and Ellen van Meerten—three women with a shared vision of human dignity, connection, and resilience. Together, they build sustainable projects that strengthen people and communities, focusing on health, education, and self-reliance.
