Ellen van Meerten (1987)

has been committed to humane care for over twenty years. Drawing on her extensive experience in caring for people with physical or mental illness, home care, and palliative care, she founded AlsCare, an organization specializing in intensive home care. As a director, she led an organization with a turnover of millions, always driven by one driving force: making care more personal, more fair, and more people-focused.

Today, Ellen continues her mission as a PhD candidate at the University for Humanistic Studies, where she conducts research on equal and dignified access to care for people with lifelong and life-wide care needs. In addition to her academic work, she is active as a supervisor, board member, and treasurer for various social initiatives, and works as a nurse practitioner in a health center.
